David J. Weerts PhD

David J. Weerts is assistant professor in the Department of Educational Policy and Administration at the University of Minnesota, and faculty associate at the UM International Institute for Research on Public Engagement.

His teaching and scholarly interests include university-community engagement, state financing of higher education, and alumni philanthropy and volunteerism. Weerts' work on public engagement has been supported by the Spencer Foundation and the National Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good at the University of Michigan.

Weerts holds a PhD in higher education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and remains a faculty affiliate at the Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education (WISCAPE).
