Alireza Ghaffarieh MD
Dr. Alireza Ghaffarieh received his MD and ophthalmology residency training from Shiraz University of Medical Science, Shiraz Iran. Ali completed training in keratoprosthesis surgery and low vision rehabilitation at Fyodorov Eye Institute in Moscow, Russia.He was assistant professor of ophthalmology in Fasa Medical School, Iran and external graduate faculty in Biomechanical Engineering Department, Robotic eye surgery at the Maine University. Ghaffarieh is currently completing an ocular pathology research fellowship in UW Ophthalmology department and his current main interest is targeting RPE glucose 6 phosphatase to protect retina in diabetic retinopathy. His research finding changes our current understanding in the pathophysiology of diabetic retinopathy.
