Jill Baumgartner PhD

Jill Baumgartner completed her master’s degree at the Harvard School of Public Health. She obtained a bachelors degree in International Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Baungartner’s masters training included field work in Kenya, South Africa, and India. She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Sichuan Province, China, where she designed and implemented four community health projects and served as a university lecturer.

Baumgartner's research interests focus on how development-driven ecological disturbances affect the emergence and distribution of infectious and respiratory diseases. For her PhD she is working with Professor Jonathan Patz of the Department of Population Health and the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment.
