Lillian S. Kao MD

Lillian Kao is an associate professor of surgery and critical care at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She graduated from medical school at University of Michigan. She then completed her surgical residency and a year as a gastrointestinal surgery fellow at University of Washington in Seattle. She also completed a critical care fellowship at UT-Houston, where she has been on faculty since 2002.

Kao completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Research at UT-Houston and has been the co-director of the Clinical Trials Course for the Masters Degree Curriculum for the past few years. She has an NIH K23 and a Robert Wood Johnson Physician Faculty Scholars Grant and is interested in surgical infections and quality improvement. Her other research interest is in application of novel and advanced methodologies to clinical surgical research.
