Dr. Fisher is a nationally recognized health care researcher whose work has had a major impact on current thinking about health care and health care reform. As the Principal Investigator on the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care, his research has demonstrated that higher spending regions and health systems in the U.S. do not achieve better outcomes or quality.

He has served on the National Advisory Council of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and was recently elected to the Institute of Medicine.
