Part one of this three-part program was created for nurses and other health care providers to promote a forward shift in the ongoing challenges with health literacy. To enhance the delivery of health care to all patients, the following will be discussed: introductory information, regulatory standards/statistics, environmental assessment, effective communication tools, and barriers to implementing health literacy practices.

Part two of this three-part program was created for nurses and other health care providers to promote a forward shift in the ongoing challenges with health literacy. Strategies learned throughout this program will help providers retain an awareness of their own communication skills as they guide patients to successful health management. This program will elaborate on JCAHO and NIH standards, standard communication tools (teachback, ask me 3, motivational interviewing) and cultural competency.
